Plastics & Vac Forming

We use Vacuum forming, Drape forming and Hot wire bending to manufacture a wide range of products in a variety of different materials depending on customer requirements, including (but not limited to); ABS, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene and HDPE.

Vacuum forming is the process of forming a flat sheet of plastic into a shaped component. The sheet of plastic is clamped, heated up to moulding temperature and then draped over a mould tool whilst the air within the mould cavity is evacuated.

Vacuum forming is well suited for low and mid-volume production runs due to the low investment cost on tooling.

Thermotec Plastics have 7 Vacuum forming machines ranging in size from 1 x 0.6m all the way up to 2.5 x 2.7m.
